Quinta do Lago, nominated for best resort and best golf course in the 2014 Today’s Golf Reader Travel Awards is located on a 2,000-acre private estate that incorporates part of the famous, Ria Formosa National Park and bird sanctuary and almost 2 miles of the most pristine Atlantic beach you will ever find, not forgetting the 2 fantastic 18 hole courses within the estate.

The North Course with an investment program of €9.6m has just overgone a total rebuild making it the number one course at Quinta do Lago offering great par 5 holes requiring power and accuracy to play them well, also providing superb views. All par 4, except 10 and 13 are doglegs, demanding precise tee shots, to set up the chance of a low score. The course is an anti-clockwise loop and favours who can draw the ball.

The South Course favours the long hitter, but requires the skill to score well. Although the front and back nines are both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine favours a draw, while the second favours a fade from the tee. An enjoyable experience for players of all standards. The newest of the three courses,

Lanjaral, was also voted “Best Golf Course” at the Portuguese Travel Awards in 2011.

In 2016 Quinta do Lago received world recognition at the 2016 World Golf Awards, when it was named “Best Golf Venue in Europe”.

They also won the prestige title of “Best Golf Resort in Continental Europe” by the Today Golfer’s Awards and Editor’s Choice Award for Best International Resort by Golf Digest which has only added to the resorts continued success.
