Surrounded by trees and lakes, pine groves and Mediterranean flora. The course has well-kept fairways and an excellent design of the course made for the most demanding players. Poniente golf first opened its doors in 1978. The course was designed by John Harris. It is a large course and has a grade of difficulty in its 18 holes. The front nine are pretty straight forward, whereas the back 9 are spectacular, taking you through dense forest and over steep inclines. Poniente is well bunkered and its lakes may cause problems on five or six holes. Never hilly enough to require a buggy, this course is a test for players of all abilities.
